On July 20th I got to see the start of a dream come true. In partnership with The Tile Shop I hosted my first DIY tile class. During this class we went over the basic tools needed for a backsplash installation, how to layout tile, how to cut tile, how to mix thinset and grout, how to install the tile and how to grout. I was blown away at how amazing each of these women did. Each participant went home with a swag bucket filled with goodies to help them tackle their own backsplash. I am passionate about teaching, and hope to see these classes grow into a program/ trade school for women to learn the basics of tile and other trades. The goal is to help them be more prepared to enter the construction workforce, and be able to apply for jobs confidently.
